Another name for vitamin B6 is
pyridoxine.
It plays an important role in the metabolism of the red blood cells,
of growth and of the skeleton.
Important sources are meat, dairy products, whole meal products,
bananas and yeast.
A deficiency may occur in connection with deficiency of other
B-vitamins, in young people and when too much alcohol is consumed.
Deficiency symptoms are disturbances of the immune system, growth
and muscles. |
